Fire in San Jose Today-Heavy firefighters responded to large fire in San Jose, California

A major firefighting response took place in San Jose after a structure fire caused extensive damage to two connected townhomes. Fire crews were called to the Bellhurst Avenue area early Friday morning, with emergency responders arriving as flames spread through the residential complex.

According to reports, calls about the fire came in at approximately 4:30 a.m. Firefighters found a serious blaze involving one of the townhomes, with the second floor of the property suffering extensive damage. The fire also spread to an adjacent unit that was undergoing remodeling.

More than 30 emergency responders were involved in the response. Firefighters worked to contain the flames and prevent the blaze from spreading further through the six-unit complex. Four other townhomes were largely spared from significant damage, according to reports.

A family of three was displaced from their home following the fire. Firefighters also rescued the family’s dog, and officials reported that no injuries were immediately reported. The neighboring unit, which had been undergoing renovations, also sustained heavy damage and will not be ready for occupants as previously planned.

The cause of the fire had not been immediately determined. Investigators are expected to examine the damaged property and surrounding area as officials work to establish what started the blaze. Residents affected by the incident may also need temporary housing while damage assessments continue.

Fire incidents can develop rapidly, particularly in closely connected residential buildings. San Jose residents are encouraged to stay clear of active emergency scenes, allow firefighters room to operate and follow instructions from local authorities. Further information may be released as the investigation continues.
